Women, 20 and 73, Injured in Head-on Crash
LAKEPORT (December 12, 2017)- According to the Press-Democrat, a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver who may have been confused took place Monday evening on Highway 29.
Authorities responded to the crash at 5:30 p.m. involving two vehicles which included a 2010 Honda Odyssey and a 2007 Honda Accord.
Per the article, the driver of the Honda Odyssey, Bonnie Adams, 73, of Plumas Lake, entered Highway 29 which is a two-lane highway headed in the wrong direction. Moments later, the Accord which was driven by Roen Adams, 20, of Oakland, collided with Bonnie Adam’s wrong-way vehicle.
The crash incurred injuries to both women requiring an emergency medical helicopter to land on scene and transport both victims to Santa Rosa hospitals.
Roen Adams was listed to have suffered moderate injuries and was allegedly in fair condition as she remained in the hospital overnight.
Meanwhile, Bonnie Adams was listed to be in serious condition at this time.
California Highway Patrol officials do not believe there to have been the involvement of either drugs or alcohol. CHP officials believe there is a strong chance that Bonnie Adams may have been confused by the signage leading to the freeway.
A full-fledged investigation is ongoing which will determine exactly what happened here and why.
