Gavin Gladding, 43, Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Accident on Friant Road
FRESNO (October 3, 2018) – A teenage boy was charged for hit-and-run after killing a man jogging along Friant Road last month on September 16, according to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News.
The suspect, 18-year-old Rogelio Alvarez-Maravilla, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death, vehicular manslaughter, driving without a license, and destroying evidence, all misdemeanors.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said 43-year old Gavin Gladding was running on the shoulder area of Friant Road when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by Alvarez-Maravilla who was traveling west at the time.
Gladding, a vice principal at Fort Washington Elementary School, was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died. The collision occurred at around 6 a.m., west of Willow Avenue.
Meanwhile, the Fresno teen did not stop to render aid and fled west on Friant. He was arrested on September 22 after turning himself in to the authorities.
