Siskiyou County Car Accident on Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway
DORRIS, Calif. (March 20, 2020) — Several people suffered moderate injuries Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 at Owens Lane.
The rollover crash took place near the Oregon border, just north of Dorris, California.
Police reported the collision took place at 5:08 a.m. on the southbound side of Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway (Hwy 97) in Siskiyou County. The drivers of an SUV and a sedan collided due to unknown circumstances, according to the California Highway Patrol. Police stated in their report that one of the vehicles overturned multiple times.
The vehicles involved included one with three or four occupants and the other had one or two people inside, the CHP reported. An elderly lady suffered rib injuries and was unable to get out of one of the vehicles, police said.
Paramedics responded and transported all those in one of the vehicles to Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Police are investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
