Rollover Collision Slows Eastbound SR-60 Traffic
SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (May 16, 2025) — A multi-vehicle collision, including one rollover, caused significant traffic delays on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Peck Road early Friday morning in South El Monte.
The crash, which occurred around 6:29 a.m. on May 16th, involved a white Toyota Camry, a gray Lexus sedan, and a red SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP Incident: 0357).
The CHP dispatch logs reported that one of the vehicles had overturned. The vehicle was temporarily blocking multiple middle lanes. Initial reports also mentioned a big rig on the right shoulder, but it is unclear if the truck was directly involved in the crash.
First responders arrived quickly at the scene, and although the collision appeared serious, only minor injuries were reported. One party suffered elbow scrapes while exiting a vehicle but declined further medical treatment. No other injuries were confirmed.
Authorities requested a tow for the Toyota Camry, which sustained major damage. CHP dispatchers requested emergency medical personnel responding as a precaution.
Traffic congestion persisted in the area during the morning commute, with lanes cleared shortly after 7:00 a.m. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
