2 Injured in Collisions on the Dumbarton Bridge
FREMONT, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2023) — Two people were injured in two separate crashes on the Dumbarton Bridge on Highway 84 over the San Francisco Bay between the cities of Fremont and Menlo Park.
The first of the two collisions was major-injury solo-crash that occurred around 5:39 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a Ford pickup truck reportedly traveling east on the Dumbarton Bridge decline when it collided into a concrete divider, according to KRON 4 news.
The truck overturned in the No. 2 lane and was hit by a second motorist. The driver of the car tried to avoid hitting the pickup truck, but was unable to and hit the overturned vehicle.
Paramedics responded and transported the pickup truck driver to a hospital and treated the second driver for minor injuries.
Investigators closed down several eastbound lanes of the Dumbarton Bridge due to the collision.
