Rollover Crash on Highway 43, Idaho Avenue in Hanford
Hanford Woman, 49, Killed | Concoran Man, 35, Hospitalized
KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (August 4, 2026) — A fatal rollover crash prompted an early morning emergency response Tuesday on State Route 43 just south of Idaho Avenue in Hanford, Kings County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 49-year-old Hanford woman died in the crash, but collision, but has not been identified.
The crash was first reported on Aug. 4th at approximately 5:35 a.m. when callers advised that a vehicle had overturned on the highway. Initial reports indicated two vehicles were involved, with debris scattered across the roadway.
As additional information came in, dispatch logs identified several vehicles connected to the incident, including a 2019 Ford Fusion sedan, a white 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck, and references to a Tesla.
Authorities determined the Hanford woman driving southbound in the pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the northbound Ford sedan driven by a 35-year-old Concoran man. The front-end of the Ford hit the rear-end of the GMC Sierra and both vehicles wound up on the east shoulder of SR-43.
CHP logs indicate emergency medical services were requested, and the incident was upgraded from a crash with unknown injuries to one involving an injury response.
The Kings County Sheriff’s Office and fire personnel also responded. An off-duty nurse was first on the scene and performed CPR on the unconscious woman from the pickup truck, but sadly she died at the scene.
Deputies requested a tow truck and an estimated arrival time.
Northbound lanes of State Route 43 were temporarily affected as crews worked at the scene. A GMC pickup was ultimately towed by Pacific Tow.
By approximately 8:05 a.m., CHP advised the roadway had been cleared and normal traffic had resumed.
Authorities have not released information regarding the number or severity of injuries, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
