SAN QUENTIN, Calif. (August 11, 2026) — A rollover crash caused significant delays Tuesday morning on westbound I-580 along the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, east of the San Quentin off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two people were injured in the crash reported at approximately 7:22 a.m. on August 11th, the CHP reported. One vehicle had overturned onto its side and was blocking the No.1 lane, with the initial report indicating that all lanes were blocked.

One vehicle overturned in a collision with a white Nissan sedan. By about 7:24 a.m., CHP was coordinating with Richmond, San Rafael, and other fire agencies regarding the collision. Tow truck services were also requested to remove at least one disabled vehicle from the roadway.

At 7:45 a.m., CHP reported that the overturned vehicle and emergency crews were approximately a quarter-mile from the scene. The No. 1 lane remained blocked at that time. A request was made for two ambulances, and at least one person was taken to a hospital in Marin with undisclosed injuries.

The roadway began clearing shortly before 8 a.m. CHP reported at 7:51 a.m. that crews were clearing the roadway and lanes would be reopening shortly. By 7:53 a.m., all lanes were reported open.

The incident prompted multiple requests for emergency and fire resources, although details about injuries were not immediately available from the CHP incident log.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
