Causes of Motorcycle Accidents
A collision involving a motorcycle may be caused by the negligence of another driver, poor roadway design, mechanical failures or inexperience or poor decisions by the driver themselves. Many collisions involving a bike take place when the rider is cut off by another motorist and the motorcyclist rear-ends the driver. Drivers often fail to use their signals in a timely manner and make lane changes in front of a bike on freeways resulting in a rear-end crash. A common cause of crashes at intersections involve a driver making a left-hand turn in front of a bike. Due to high speeds on freeways, it’s incumbent upon all motorists to look out for motorcycles and use their signals to indicate whether they are making a lane change.
