Citrus Heights Man, 34, Identified as Crash Victim
SACRAMENTO, California (August 23, 2024) — Ronald Anton, 34 of Citrus Heights, died Monday in a chain-reaction crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway in Sacramento.
The five-vehicle traffic accident occurred on the eastbound I-80 on August 19th, just west of the Interstate 5 Freeway, according to ABC 10 News.
A driver in a pickup truck reportedly crashed into the man’s Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in a chain-reaction collision involving three other motorists. Three of the vehicles caught on fire after the crash and Ronald Anton died on scene. Two other people were transported to a hospital with injuries.
The at-fault driver told CHP investigators they didn’t see traffic was stopped before hitting the victim’s Toyota truck.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office released the victim’s name on Thursday.
Investigators continue to work on the case.
