Ronald Sera Dies in Hospital, Weeks after Long Beach Pedestrian Accident

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 16, 2026) – Ronald Sera, 57,of Montebello, died Wednesday, six weeks after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street in Long Beach.
The victim was found unconscious in the roadway around 1:05 a.m. on Feb. 28, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The Long Beach Fire Department sent paramedics and transported the injured man to a hospital, but a few weeks later on Wednesday, April 15th he died from his injuries.
Detectives working on the case are looking for the driver of a Toyota Previa van involved in the crash. The westbound vehicle was traveling on Anaheim Street when it struck the victim in a crosswalk on Redondo Avenue.
The driver failed to stop and help the victim, but kept driving west on Anaheim Street.
