Ruben Jimenez, 57, Injured in Collision on State Route 99
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2023) — Rosa Lidia Jimenez, 59, and Celia Jimenez, both died and Ruben Jimenez, 57, was injured in a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 99 and Olive Drive in Bakersfield.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified both women who died following the Oct. 29th crash. Celia Jimenez died at the scene and Rosa Jimenez of Bakersfield died a few days later on Nov. 2nd.
The two women were passengers in a 2003 Ford driven by Ruben Jimenez that was traveling southbound on Highway 99, according to Bakersfield Now.
The driver reportedly made an unsafe turning movement before he lost control of the car. The Ford went off the roadway and crashed into a wooden signpost before it overturned, the report said.
Paramedics responded and located the two front passengers with major injuries and the backseat passenger was ejected and died at the scene.
Rosa Lidia Jimenez and Ruben Jimenez were held in the vehicle by their seat belts. They were both taken to Kern Medical Center with major injuries. However, the man was released on Nov. 1st, but the woman later died at the hospital on November 2nd, 2023.
A GoFundMe account was created to help the the three family members involved in the crash.
The driver’s niece stated her uncle “ran over a metal pole” that punctured his back tire and that’s what caused him to lose control of the vehicle. She wrote the vehicle overturned three times.
