Pedestrian Killed in Rosamond Possible Hit-and-Run Near Matthew Avenue and 20th Street

ROSAMOND, CA (July 17, 2021) – A suspected hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near Matthew Avenue and 20th Street West in Rosamond.

According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the fatal accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the incident shortly after 9 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol said the a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in Rosamond. The driver hit the person near the intersection of Matthew Avenue and 20th Street West.

Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the victim left lying on the ground. The patient sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel soon pronounced the pedestrian dead after the Rosamond crash. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, CHP believed that the motorist apparently did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Officers forced a stretch of Matthew Avenue and 20th Street West to shut down following the incident.

The possible Rosamond hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
