Rosario Chavez Killed in Winnetka Car Accident
Manuel Mejia Arrested, 2 Passengers Hurt
WINNTEKA (July 14, 2017)- According to the LA Times, a deadly collision resulted in the death of a 42-year-old woman identified as Rosario Chavez early Thursday morning, July 13.
The collision was reported at 2:05 a.m. on Roscoe Boulevard involving a total of three cars.
Per KTLA News, authorities reported the operator of a Dodge Challenger, Manuel Mejia, 28, of Northridge, had been driving at high speeds before veering into oncoming traffic where he struck both a Subaru Impreza and a Ford Escape.
Per KTLA News, the Ford Escape ricochet off the road over the street curb directly into both a tree and power pole tragically leaving the driver, Rosario Chavez, with fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, Mejia was with two passengers, one who was seriously injured and rushed to a trauma center while Mejia and the second passenger sustained moderate injuries and were also hospitalized. Neither of Mejia’s passengers has been identified.
The driver of the Subaru was apparently uninjured and declined any treatment, the report added.
At this time, it remains unclear if just reckless driving played a role in the collision or if alcohol or drugs contributing factors.
Los Angeles PD is manning the investigation as more details will likely soon be revealed.
Based on this news report, Miguel Mejia will be held fully liable for this devastating tragedy for causing the collision and the death of Ms. Rosario Chavez.
