Rosario Requena, Gerardo Duran-Escatel Injued in Modesto Car Crash

Patrol Vehicle vs. Car Collision at Yosemite and Albers

Modesto, CA (November 6, 2022) – Four people, including 50-year-old Rosario Guadalupe Velarde Requena; and 51-year-old Gerardo Duran-Escatel, all suffered injuries following a road accident in Modesto early Sunday.

The Modesto Bee News reported, a collision between a California Highway Patrol unit and a CHP 2017 Dodge Charger took place in the area of Yosemite Boulevard and Albers Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed two officers were responding to a traffic collision early Sunday morning. Authorities said the patrol car entered the intersection of Yosemite and Albers, also known as Geer Road, with lights and siren on. For reasons still unclear, a 2017 Dodge Charger heading south on Albers also drove through the crossing. The front-end of the Dodge slammed into the patrol vehicle. Due to the force from the impact, the Dodge careened southwest and came to a rest after hitting a power pole.

2 Hospitalized After Car Accident in Modesto

Rescue teams responded to the scene shortly after 2:45 a.m. Paramedics said they rendered aid to the officers, and the occupants in the Dodge. After the evaluation, medical personnel decided to transfer to a hospital the two occupants in the Dodge. Officials later identified the injured driver as Rosario Guadalupe Velarde Requena, of Ceres; and Gerardo Duran-Escatel, of Modesto.

Detectives handling the case stayed at the scene the whole morning. They continue to investigate at this time precise cause of the car crash that happened at Yosemite Boulevard and Albers Road.
