 Rosaura Echeverria-Alvarado Fatal Crash Grant Street in Mecca Two Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash in Mecca

MECCA, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2022) —  Rosaura Echeverria-Alvarado, 21,  and Jesus Soto, 23, both of Mecca, died in a solo-vehicle crash on Grant Street, just north of 65th Avenue in Mecca.

The fatal crash occurred about 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1st in an agricultural area of Mecca, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

Jesus Soto was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on Grant Street when the vehicle went off the roadway into a rock on the right shoulder, according to the Desert Sun. The vehicle overturned during the crash and both occupants were ejected.  Neither one of them was wearing a seatbelt, officials said.

Paramedics responded and the driver was pronounced dead on scene.

The female passenger identified as Rosaura Echeverria-Alvarado was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. She later died at the hospital about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 2nd, the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner said.

The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation and will determine if alcohol or drugs are a factor.
