Rosendo Aguilar, 28, Injures 2 People in Watsonville DUI Hit-and-Run Crash
WATSONVILLE, CA (July 5, 2021) – Authorities detained Rosendo Aguilar after a DUI hit-and-run crash on Miles Lane in Watsonville.
Police determined that the 28-year-old Salinas man was under the influence when the collision took place on Sunday night.
The incident happened on the Fourth of July when firefighters were working on controlling a grass fire on Miles Lane in Watsonville.
Watsonville police said Rosendo Avila Aguilar then drove his black pickup truck into the scene. In the process, he hit a Dodge Ram fire command vehicle.
The driver reversed and plowed into the parked vehicles and the people in the area. He struck at least three people, including a firefighter and a spectator.

The Pajaronian and KSBW News wrote that the accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. The two victims ended up with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics took the firefighter to Natividad Trauma Center in Salinas for treatment. Officials did not release the names of the two wounded patients and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, bystanders stopped the drunk motorist from leaving. Police soon arrested Rosendo Aguilar for felony hit-and-run and DUI causing injuries.
The Watsonville DUI crash is still under investigation.
