Man Killed in Rosewood Street Racing Crash
ROSEWOOD, Los Angeles County (July 29, 2017) – A man was killed and three other people were injured in a suspected DUI street racing crash in the area of Main Street and Rosecrans Avenue late Friday night, according to The Press Telegram.
The accident took place at 11:10 p.m. near Compton.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred when a 22-year-old Torrance man driving a 2013 Dodge north on Main Street at a high rate of speed was allegedly racing another vehicle. The Dodge then ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into the driver side of a 1995 Chevrolet.
Rosewood Fatal Car Accident
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 26-year-old Carson man, died at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
CHP affirmed that the three passengers in the Dodge were hurt following the wreck. A 24-year-old man was seriously injured, a 16-year-old boy suffered moderate injuries and a 24-year-old man sustained minor wounds. All three are from Gardena.
Meanwhile, the alleged speeding motorist was left with moderate injuries and was later arrested. Authorities believed that alcohol possibly played a role in the incident.
