San Diego Man, 67, Struck, Killed by MTS Trolley
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 29, 2023) — Roy Mattingly, 67, of San Diego, died last week when a San Diego trolley hit his motorized wheelchair while crossing the tracks at Harbor Drive and Schley Street in San Diego.
The deadly crash occurred 7:24 p.m. on March 24th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner report.
The homeless man was reportedly riding his wheelchair southbound and crossing the trolley tracks near the San Diego intersection.
An eastbound Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) trolley struck the victim and he suffered major injuries. Paramedics responded to help the victim, but he died on the sidewalk in front of 1285 Schley Street, the report said.
Liability for the case remains unknown as the collision is under investigation.
