SACRAMENTO, California (May 1, 2016) – A toddler identified by the coroner’s office as Royal Mitchell was fatally hit by a truck in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Sunday afternoon, according to Fox 40 News.
The incident occurred about 3:15 p.m. at the Aspen Park Apartments on Mack Road.
As per the article, police said the 2-year-old Mitchell was playing with his siblings when he ran into the roadway to get a ball.
Mitchell was then struck by a medical supply delivery truck which was driving in the area. He was rushed to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the truck driver reportedly lives in the apartment complex.
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to have played a role in the collision which remains under investigation.
