Ruben Martinez, 32, ID’d as Suspect in Visalia DUI Crash
VISALIA, CA (November 26, 2022) – Authorities detained Ruben Martinez after a DUI crash at Highway 198 and State Route 65 in Visalia.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 32-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred on Friday.
The incident began when Ruben Martinez, of Visalia, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado west on Highway 198. At the same time, a Infiniti QX60 was going south on State Route 65.
CHP said Ruben Martinez ran a red light at the intersection. The FOX 26 News and Your Central Valley wrote that in the process, he struck the Infiniti.
Woman and Children Seriously Injured in Wreck
The impact forced the Infiniti into a Nissan Frontier and a Mazda 3 waiting at the eastbound Highway 198. The wreck took place on November 25 at around 11 p.m.
Ruben Martinez and the driver of the Infiniti, 40-year-old Exeter resident Veronica Galaviz, sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.
The five children riding the Infiniti, ages 6 to 13, ended up with moderate to major injuries following the accident. Paramedics rushed the victims to hospitals for treatment.
The motorists in the Nissan and Mazda did not sustain any wound after the wreck. Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested Ruben Martinez on suspicion of DUI. The Visalia DUI crash is still under investigation.
