SAN PABLO, Calif. (January 10, 2022) – Ruben Vasquez-Mendez, 19, of Richmond, died Friday night in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Giant Road and John Avenue in San Pablo.

Police arrested a 30-year-old Richmond man after he allegedly admitted driving the Dodge that hit Vasquez-Mendez, according to Mercury News.

They detained Duglus Rodas-Reyes after the San Pablo crash about 10:12 p.m. on Jan. 7th.

Duglus Rodas-Reyes was allegedly driving a 2005 Dodge Magnum at the San Pablo intersection when he struck the pedestrian and failed to stop, according to East Bay Times.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim down on the ground. Due to severe injuries from the collision Ruben Vasquez-Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Duglus Rodas-Reyes did not stop to help the victim. Later, police located him and his car on Enterprise Avenue in Richmond.

The motorist faces felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges. Police booked him into the Contra Costa County Jail.

The San Pablo hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at (510) 215-3150.
