Rufugio Cedillo, 45, and Tanya Shaw, 42, Killed in Friday Fresno Crash
FRESNO (December 8, 2017) – Two people were killed in a traffic collision involving a motorcycle at Willow and Tulare avenues Friday afternoon, according to Fresno Bee.
The victims were identified as 45-year-old Rufugio Cedilla, and 42-year-old Tanya Shaw.
At approximately 3:51 p.m., the motorcycle occupied by Cedilla and Shaw reportedly crashed into the side of an SUV in the intersection. Investigators determined that the motorcycle was heading east on Tulare, while the SUV was making a left turn from westbound Tulare onto Willow when the collision took place.
The impact forced both the motorcycle and the SUV to slam into another vehicle that was stopped at a light on Willow.
First responders to the accident scene immediately attended to the man and woman riding the motorcycle, later identified as Cedilla and Shaw. Sadly, both parties succumbed to their injuries before being taken to the hospital.
No immediate information was disclosed on the conditions of the other drivers involved.
Meanwhile, reports described the involved SUVs as a GMC Envoy and a Nissan Pathfinder. Additional details on the fatal crash will be disclosed once the investigation process is over.
We offer our warmest of thoughts, our prayers, and condolences to the family members of Mr. Rufugio Cedilla and Ms. Tanya Shaw as they search for peace and comfort.
Fresno County Wrongful Death Lawyer
A forensic examination of both the motorcycle and the other involved SUVs, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
In this specific case, if investigators finally prove that a party has been negligent and caused the collision that led to the death of Mr. Rufugio Cedilla and Ms. Tanya Shaw, the family of the deceased parties may have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the at-fault.
