MODESTO, California (June 25, 2016) – 58-year-old Russell Atchinson has been killed as a result of a collision on Claribel Road near Oakdale-Waterford Highway, according to an article by Modesto Bee.
The accident occurred in the afternoon of June 23.
In detail, the article mentioned Atchinson was alone and on his hands and knees over the manhole on Claribel. Suddenly, he was struck by an oncoming GMC Sierra pickup.
The force from the impact resulted in fatal injuries to Atchinson. He has been pronounced dead at the scene. Atchinson has been identified as a Stanislaus County Public Works employee since 2011.
The GMC driver was later identified as 66-year-old John Masellis. Masellis remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Investigation is ongoing.
