Russell Hofeling, 65, Killed in Martinez Bicycle Accident on Arnold Drive
MARTINEZ, CA (April 8, 2021) – A bicycle accident killed Russell Hofeling along Arnold Drive in Martinez on Thursday morning.
Police identified the 65-year-old Martinez man as the victim of the tragic collision which occurred on April 8.
The incident happened when Russell Hofeling was riding a bicycle in the 1800 block of Arnold Drive in Martinez. Police said for an unknown reason, he collided with a vehicle.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and then found Russell Hofeling down on the ground. He suffered major injuries as a result of the crash.
Bicyclist Hit by Vehicle in Martinez
Medical personnel rushed the bicyclist to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he died. According to the East Bay Times, officers reported the accident at around 8 am.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver stopped after hitting the cyclist. The motorist stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the authorities.
Officials soon shut down Arnold Drive for a time following the accident. The cause of the fatal Martinez bicycle collision is still under investigation.
