Ryan Aguirre, 18, Killed in Rio Vista Crash on Highway 160 Near Highway 12

RIO VISTA, CA (November 28, 2022) – Ryan Aguirre was killed after a DUI crash on Highway 160 near the Rio Vista Bridge.

The coroner’s office identified the 18-year-old Sacramento man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.

The incident happened when Ryan Oliver Aguirre was driving a 1998 Honda north on Highway 160 near Rio Vista. At the same time, a 2004 Subaru was going south.

The California Highway Patrol said the Subaru then crossed into the northbound lane, north of Highway 12. In the process, the car slammed head-on into the Honda.

The Honda plunged down the levee on the east side of road due to the impact of the collision. Both vehicles obtained major damage in the accident.

DUI Driver Hits Another Car Head-On

The Sacramento Bee and FOX 40 News wrote that the wreck occurred on November 27 at about 9:30 p.m. Ryan Aguirre ended up trapped inside his car as a result of the Highway 160 crash.

Firefighters freed the victim from the wreckage and rushed him to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. CHP confirmed that he died while en route to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the female driver of the Subaru survived the incident with minor injuries. Officers determined that she was under the influence of alcohol when she hit the other vehicle.

Police soon arrested the 20-year-old woman for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI causing injury.

They also booked her into Sacramento County Main Jail for felony DUI alcohol/drug combination causing injury.

Officers forced the northbound lanes of Highway 160 to shut down for hours following the Rio Vista crash. The wreck is still under investigation.
