Ryan Milligan, 29, ID’d as Suspect in Grass Valley Fatal DUI Crash
GRASS VALLEY, CA (November 11, 2022) – Authorities detained Ryan Milligan after a fatal DUI crash in Grass Valley.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 29-year-old Nevada City man was under the influence of alcohol on Thursday.
The incident began when Ryan Milligan was driving a 2001 GMC Sierra at a high rate of speed west on Rough and Ready Highway in Grass Valley.
A 41-year-old Nevada County man was riding a 2004 Suzuki GSX R1000 in the same direction at the time. CHP said the speeding driver then rear-ended the motorcyclist.
The two collided near the intersection with West Drive. The CBS Sacramento and FOX 40 News wrote that the wreck took place on November 10 shortly after 10 p.m.
Motorcyclist, 41, Killed in Wreck
The rider ended up ejected from the motorcycle onto the ground due to the impact of the collision. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.
An air ambulance flew the victim to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where he died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The GMC steered to the left, crashed through the front yard and plowed into the front living room of a home in the area. Ryan Milligan survived the crash with minor wounds.
Paramedics rushed him to a Grass Valley hospital for further aid. Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested and booked Ryan Milligan into the Nevada County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
The suspect hit an occupant home at the time of the incident. The cause of the Grass Valley DUI crash is still under investigation.
