Ryan Sanchez, 24, Injured in Pomona Fatal Crash on 60 Freeway
POMONA, CA (April 17, 2022) – Ryan Sanchez was hospitalized after a car crash that killed two people on the 60 Freeway in Pomona.
According to the NBC Los Angeles and CBS Los Angeles, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at around 2 a.m.
The incident began when 24-year-old Ryan Sanchez was driving a Toyota Camry east on the 60 Freeway in Pomona. He saw a previous collision and stopped.
The Chino man got out to help and then went back inside his car. At the same time, a Honda Civic was approaching at a high rate of speed.
2 Killed in Wreck
The California Highway Patrol said the Honda then slammed into the back of the Toyota. The two cars collided just west of Reservoir Street near the interchange with the 71 Freeway.
The Civic caught fire due to the impact of the collision. The passenger of the Camry, a 23-year-old Chino woman, and the speeding driver died as a result of the wreck.
CHP added that Ryan Sanchez survived with minor injuries following the crash. Paramedics took him to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, officers forced the eastbound lanes of the 60 Freeway to shut down for a time after the incident. The Pomona crash is still under investigation.
