IRVINE, California (October 10, 2016) — Ryan Tornell, 26, of Laguna Hills, was killed Saturday in a pedestrian accident on the Interstate 5 Freeway at Lake Forest Drive, a the Orange County Sheriff Coroner said.
The young man was struck by a semi-tractor trailer truck about 4 a.m. on Saturday morning in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway.
The cause of the crash and liability is under investigation by police.
Orange County Car Accidents
There were 165 people killed and 13,837 injured in 2013 Orange County traffic accidents, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Report. Nine people were killed in Irvine and 920 were injured including two pedestrian deaths and 64 injuries, the CHP statistics report said.
