Police-Chased Vehicle Slams Into Family Car on Parker Avenue
Rodeo, CA (March 27, 2023) – Ryniqueka Dowell, and her son both died following a car accident that occurred on Parker Avenue Thursday, March 23.
The FOX2 News reported Dowell was driving a 2017 Nissan with her twin sons traveling in the streets of Rodeo. When the car occupied by the family approached the area of Parker and Willow Avenue, a speeding vehicle smashed into the Nissan.
Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, a 20-year-old man, was driving an allegedly stolen 2021 Mazda SUV. Police first spotted the stolen car traveling toward Hercules on eastbound Interstate 80. Officers later launched a pursuit in an attempt to apprehend the suspect. However, the man behind the wheel of the Mazda accelerated and lead the police to a chase.
The Mazda exited the highway onto northbound Willow Avenue. Our sources indicated the suspect was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided into the Nissan on Parker Avenue.
Boy Taken Off Life Support, Another Injured in Rodeo Car Accident
When emergency crews arrived, they found the mother and her two sons suffering in serious injuries. Paramedics later pronounced the woman, Ryniqueka Dowell, dead. Authorities added one of the 6-year-old boys sustained injuries including a broken leg; while the other twin was listed in critical condition at the Children’s Hospital in Oakland. On Monday, medical personnel took off the life support of the child.
Police subsequently arrested the driver of the stolen Mazda on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, possession of a stolen vehicle and three counts of pursuit causing death or great bodily injury.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
