Saba Berhane Killed in La Mesa Pedestrian Accident on Fletcher Parkway
LA MESA, Calif., (May 19, 2026) — An 80-year-old woman identified as Saba Berhane died in a pedestrian accident last Wednesday afternoon when she was hit by a motorist pulling out of a driveway near Costco at 8125 Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa.
The traffic accident occurred at approximately 12:23 p.m. on May 13th, as the woman was on a sidewalk walking across a driveway in a commercial area near Lake Murray, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency responders located the woman down in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Paramedics transported the elderly woman to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she later died from her injuries at 12:44 p.m. the same day.
The pedestrian’s name and age have not been released, and authorities have not provided information about the vehicle involved in the collision.
The driver, who had pulled out of a nearby building’s driveway, stopped and cooperated with the authorities’ investigation. Witnesses are asked to come forward with information that could assist in their inquiries.
