Semi-Truck and Pickup Involved in Major Accident
SACRAMENTO (August 10, 208)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a major injury collision was reported at the intersection of Florin and Florin Perkins roads.
CHP officials were notified of the accident between a semi-truck and an alleged Toyota pickup truck.
The dispatch report read that the driver of the pickup truck was trapped inside his vehicle with an apparently serious leg injury.
The Sacramento Fire Department was prompted to the scene to assist the injured pickup truck driver who was eventually rushed to a hospital for immediate assessment and treatment.
It remains unclear whether there were any passengers accompanying the driver of the pickup truck as those details were not provided.
Meanwhile, it did not appear that the semi-truck driver suffered any injuries.
Eastbound lanes on Florin Road were temporarily shut down for at least an hour while authorities gathered their details to help formulate a traffic collision report which will ultimately determine the liable party.

Pending the investigation, the company employing the big rig driver could be held liable for the collision. Authorities will examine photos that were taken of the scene as well as compiled evidence will help investigators determine the ultimate cause of the collision. Police officials will look into all potential factors including speed, the possible involvement of alcohol or drugs, or whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by all vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, those who suffered injuries following a collision may be entitled file a personal injury lawsuit against the company responsible for this collision.
