The accident happened at around 1:00 p.m. between Greenback Lane and Madison Avenue.
Preliminary report stated that a CHP officer, identified as 17-year veteran Michael Ericson, was responding to what he noticed was a disabled truck in the center divide on the westbound of the freeway.
As when Ericson pulled up behind the seemingly disabled vehicle, the truck suddenly ran over him, as mentioned in the article.
The force from the impact resulted in Ericson sustaining severe injuries. He was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the suspect which struck Ericson escaped from the scene after collision concluding in the hit and run call on the incident.
In a similar article published by the SF Gate, the suspect was narrated to have been pursued by responding authorities and was later chased and caught in Fairfield.
The CHP Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team continued to look into the crash.
