Boy, 14, Injured in Sacramento County Hit-and-Run Crash on Caymus Drive
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (March 12, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash critically injured a teenage boy on Caymus Drive near a Sacramento County school.
According to the KCRA News and CBS Sacramento, the accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the collision on March 11 at around 12:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a 14-year-old boy was riding a bicycle on Caymus Drive, just south of Brittany Park Drive in Sacramento County.
For an unknown reason, a vehicle failed to yield to the teen and struck him in the crosswalk. The crash occurred near the Maeola Beitzel Elementary School.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Vineyard neighborhood. They found the victim who sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the boy to the hospital and listed him in critical condition. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the bicyclist and fled the area.
They described the car as a 2000s white Chevy Tahoe or a similar model. Officers forced a stretch of Caymus Drive to shut down following the accident.
The cause of the Sacramento County hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
