Wrong-Way Driver Dead After Car Accident on I-5 Saturday
Sacramento, CA (September 1, 2020) – One person died, and two others suffered injuries following a wrong-way collision on the Interstate 5, also known as West Side Freeway, Saturday evening.
According to an article published by KCRA3 News, a Honda Accord veered into the opposite traffic and crashed head-on into a Toyota Camry in the northbound side of I-5. The accident occurred at about 11:55 p.m.
The force from the impact caused the Honda to become airborne. When the Honda landed on the road, it collided with a Volvo, also heading north on the freeway.
Authorities confirmed the driver of the Honda sadly died in the wreck. The Sacramento County Coroner identified the fatality as 46-year-old Ernest Gonzales, of Woodland.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota Camry reportedly suffered major injury as a result of the accident. The 38-year-old driver of the Volvo sustained minor injury in the crash. Paramedics transported the two patients to nearby hospitals for treatment.
