1 Killed in Sacramento Crash on Westbound Highway 50 Near Howe Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 21, 2021) – One was killed after a car crash on Highway 50 near Howe Avenue in Sacramento.
According to an article published by the KCRA News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 7:50 a.m.
The incident began when a Jeep become disabled for an unknown reason in the No. 3 lane of the westbound Highway 50 in Sacramento.
2 Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said a Ford approached and then slammed into the Jeep. Both cars caught fire upon impact near the Howe Avenue on-ramp.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that the driver of the Jeep died as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the motorist in the Ford failed to see the stalled vehicle and struck it.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of Highway 50 near Howe Avenue to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Sacramento crash is still under investigation.
