Bicyclist Killed in Highway 160 DUI Crash Near Northgate Boulevard
SACRAMENTO (July 21, 2018) – A bicyclist was killed in an alleged hit-and-run collision on Highway 160 early Saturday, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Primary reports indicated an unidentified man was riding a bicycle on the northbound side of the highway, when for unknown reasons he was struck by a 2012 Honda Accord.
Shortly after 2 a.m., emergency teams arrived at the location and attended to the bicyclist. As per the article, the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed thus far.
Kamau Ndirangu Arrested After Sacramento Hit-and-Run Accident
Meanwhile, officials said the motorist involved continued driving after hitting the bicyclist. Investigators later identified the suspect as 24-year-old Kamau Ndirangu, of Antelope. Ndirangu was reportedly found at his residence later the same day and was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers. The suspect was booked into the Sacramento County jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI.
Further investigation on the deadly incident is ongoing.
