2 Men Killed in Sacramento Hit-and-Run on Interstate 80 Near Madison Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 4, 2021) – Two were killed after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 80 near Madison Avenue in Sacramento.
According to the CBS Sacramento and ABC 10 News, the tragic accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 6 p.m.
The incident began when a green GMC pickup going west on the Interstate 80 near the Madison Avenue off-ramp drifted off to the side for an unknown reason.
The GMC collided with two disabled vehicles on the side of the freeway. Two Sacramento residents, a 63-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, was tending to one car pulled off to the side at the time.
Victims Hit by Car
The California Highway Patrol said the pickup truck went back into traffic and struck a Honda Pilot traveling west on the Interstate 80.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 26-year-old dead at the scene. Medical personnel rushed the 63-year-old to a nearby hospital, where he died.
The names of the deceased victims have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the male driver of GMC did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
They described the suspect as a balding Hispanic man, 40 to 50 years old, wearing blue jeans, no shirt. He has heavy set of tattoos.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The fatal Sacramento hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
