Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 50, Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO, Calif., (August 10, 2026) — A fatal collision involving a pedestrian occurred early Monday morning on Highway 50 Eastbound at Stockton Boulevard, resulting in the death of the pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been disclosed.

The tragic incident on Aug. 10th was reported at approximately 12:26 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Highway 50. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision involved an unidentified vehicle and an unknown pedestrian. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

Initial reports indicated that the highway was shut down entirely to facilitate the response and investigation. The closure was necessary to allow emergency personnel, including fire department units and coroner services, to access the scene safely. A Sigalert was issued, advising motorists of the full freeway closure and subsequent delays.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was notified and arrived on the scene at approximately 3:31 a.m. to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatality. The identity of the pedestrian is yet to be released pending next-of-kin notification.

Authorities are actively investigating the accident to determine the factors leading to this unfortunate event. They are urging any witnesses or individuals with information regarding the incident to come forward to aid in the investigation.
