1 Injured in Sacramento Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 80 Near Northgate
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 18, 2021) – At least one was injured after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 80 in Sacramento.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place early Wednesday. Officers reported the wreck at about 8:24 a.m.
CHP said a big rig and a black Toyota Prius for an unknown reason in Sacramento. The two crashed on the eastbound side of the Interstate 80, just east of Northgate Boulevard.
Big Rig and Car Collide
The car plunged 20 feet down the embankment upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found one person who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then provided aid to the patient for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the incident. Officials did not release the name of the wounded victim and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that one of the drivers involved abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. They later detained the suspect.
Officers forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 80 near Northgate to shut down following the wreck. The Sacramento hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
