SACRAMENTO, California (July 10, 2014) – Major injuries were reported following a multi-vehicle traffic accident Thursday morning on the State Route 51 Elvas Freeway at the P Street off ramp, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch report.
About 11:42 a.m., CHP officers say there was a collision between the drivers of a big rig truck, a silver 4-door sedan, a silver Volkswagen golf, a white 2007 Honda Pilot, a blue Ford SUV and a small green sedan.
The crash was blocking the three right lanes of the freeway and the semi-tractor trailer truck was leaking fluid. The small silver sedan suffered front-end damage and the big rig required a heavy duty tow truck.
The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the crash to transport at least one person with major injuries.
A SigAlert was issued due to heavy traffic while police headed up an investigation into the crash.
