SACRAMENTO: Two-Vehicle Crash I-5 Freeway, Del Paso Road

Pickup Truck, Car Collide on Freeway in Sacramento

Sacramento, Calif. (June 15, 2026) — A crash involving a pickup truck and a small passenger vehicle caused traffic delays and left at least one person injured Monday morning on northbound Interstate 5 Freeway near Del Paso Road in Sacramento, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch reports.

The collision was reported on June 15th around 9:36 a.m. on the northbound I-5 at Del Paso Road. Initial reports indicated a green Toyota Tundra collided with a gray small car. Both vehicles were reportedly moved to the right-hand shoulder following the impact.

Authorities said the crash partially blocked the No. 1 lane just north of the Del Paso Road exit, slowing traffic through the area during the morning commute.

Emergency responders were called to the scene after a 55-year-old man complained of pain and required medical transport. Sacramento Fire Department crews responded to assist, with dispatchers requesting an estimated arrival time as paramedics were sent to evaluate the injured party.

A CHP officer later confirmed the collision involved injuries, prompting the incident to be classified as an injury crash. The extent of the victim’s injuries was not immediately released.

A tow truck was requested to remove damaged vehicles from the scene, and traffic gradually improved as responders cleared the incident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
