Father and Daughters 6, 8 Badly Injured in by Drunk Driver

August 8, 2018- According to the Sacramento Bee, a major injury wrong-way DUI crash was reported last night on westbound I-80 at the Madison Avenue exit involving two vehicles injuring a total of four people.
Authorities report that at about 6:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man driving a Chevy pickup truck entered the Madison Avenue on-ramp heading the wrong way as he entered westbound I-80 traveling eastbound. The young man realized he entered the wrong side of the freeway attempting to quickly make a U-turn to get back onto eastbound I-80.
Moments later, an SUV being driven by a father accompanied by his two daughters, 6 and 8, broadsided the 22-year-old man’s Chevy which U-turned directly into the path of the SUV.
The collision left the father and his two girls seriously injured who were properly restrained in car seats, per the Sacramento Bee. It has been released, however, that the youngest 6-year-old daughter is sadly in grave condition with life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old man was also badly injured. While he was transported to a trauma center immediately, he was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
None of the four involved parties have been properly identified at this time.
]According to CHP officials, two lanes of I-80 westbound were shut down for about 90 minutes.
