LEONA VALLEY, California (Oct. 11, 2017) — Sage Joseph Gallegos, 25, of Palmdale was struck by a truck and killed early Wednesday morning at Bouquet Canyon and Elizabeth Lake roads, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 4:59 a.m. when the person was struck by a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Four other vehicles pulled over to help those involved in the crash.
Police responded to the scene, but the young man died of his injuries.
The Chevrolet pickup truck and a Nissan 350 were both towed from the scene. It’s unclear how many vehicles were actually involved in the collision.
Fatal Crash Investigation
Police are investigating what led to this fatality. There are many unanswered questions such as who had the right-of-way? Was alcohol or drugs a factor? Was there a dangerous condition in the roadway or a mechanical failure such as defective brakes? The surviving family members of a person who has died in a collision may have grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit.
