Man, 18, Killed in San Diego Hit-and-Run on 8 Freeway; 2 Others Injured
SAN DIEGO (May 18, 2018) – One was killed and three were injured after an alleged hit-and-run collision along the Interstate 8 Freeway Thursday afternoon, according to CBS San Diego and FOX 5 News.
The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. near Waring Road in the Mission Valley neighborhood.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Sajjad Hameed Ismael was driving a 2001 Toyota Avalon west on the 8 Freeway when he rear-ended a 2017 Toyota Prius. The San Diego man was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed at the time.
The Avalon swerved into a center median, slammed into several trees and went back onto the freeway.

CHP affirmed that the 18-year-old El Cajon man riding as a left rear passenger in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The male occupant in the front seat was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital with severe trauma.
The male passenger in the right rear seat suffered minor injuries and was treated at the crash site. The names of the deceased and injured victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, Ismael fled on foot but was later located on Mission Gorge Road in Grantville and was taken into custody. The suspect was ultimately booked into county jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run causing death, and reckless driving.
