Major-Injuries in Multi-Vehicle Crash Highway 68 in Salinas
SALINAS, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2021) — At least five people were seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a multi-vehicle Salinas crash on Highway 68 (Cypress Church Drive).
The collision happened about 1:32 p.m. on Feb. 4th at Corral De Tierra Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police stated that one vehicle rear-ended two others in a chain-reaction crash in the westbound lanes. Two motorcyclists were also involved and a Honda Passport overturned onto its roof. The westbound lanes were closed temporarily as firefighters worked to extricate someone who was trapped in the overturned Honda.
Meanwhile, a Subaru SUV had major damage and a single-cab Chevrolet pickup truck had major front-end damage.
Following the crash, one person was on the ground with a head injury. A nurse was at the scene assisting the person who was semi-conscious with major injuries.
A second person also had major injuries and three others had minor injuries.
One of the injured was a person who suffered lacerations and had complaints of pain. They were among those transported to a hospital.
