Salinas Car and Big Rig Crash Highway 101 Hartnell Road

Woman, 3 Children Injured in Salinas Crash on Highway 101 and Hartnell Road

SALINAS, CA (March 21, 2022) – Several were hospitalized after a car crash on Highway 101 and Hartnell Road in Salinas.

According to an article published by the KSBW News, the accident took place on Monday morning. The incident began when a big rig made an illegal U-turn.

In the process, the driver of the truck cut off a sedan. The California Highway Patrol said the car then slammed into the rear of the big rig.

The two crashed on northbound Highway 101 at Hartnell Road in Salinas. The sedan ended up lodged underneath the trailer as a result of the collision.

Big Rig and Car Collide

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene. They found three children, ages 3, 8 and 11, and a woman riding the car hurt following the wreck.

An air ambulance took all three juveniles to a hospital in the Bay Area while a ground ambulance rushed their mother to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

The report did not disclose the names of the wounded victims and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, the Salinas crash is still under investigation.

CHP shut down the right slow lane and the left turn lane of Highway 101 to Hartnell after the incident.
