Boy, 11, Injured in Salinas Hit-and-Run Crash on West Acacia Street
SALINAS, CA (August 25, 2021) – A child was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Acacia Street near a school in Salinas.
According to the KSBW News and KION News, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the collision on August 24 at around 3 p.m.
The incident happened when an 11-year-old boy was walking home from Mission Park Elementary on West Acacia Street in Salinas.
For an unknown reason, a black SUV then struck the pedestrian crossing the street at the time. The child ended up thrown off the ground, launched several feet and landed back on the ground.
Child Hit by Car Near School
Paramedics arrived at the scene and attended to the the child who ended up wounded as a result of the crash. He sustained minor concussion, bruised ribs on his left side and bleeding knees and multiple lacerations.
Meanwhile, the female driver of the SUV stopped briefly after hitting the child. A video showed that she opened the car door but soon fled the area.
Officers forced a stretch of Acacia Street near the school to shut down following the accident. The cause of the Salina hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
