
1 Killed in Salinas Crash Highway 101 Near Main Street
SALINAS, CA (April 16, 2023) – A crash killed at least one person on Highway 101 near Main Street in Salinas.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place late Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck on April 16 at around 10:14 p.m.
CHP said a white tow truck and a car collided for an unknown reason in Salinas. The two crashed on the southbound side of Highway 101 near Main Street.

One of the vehicles involved struck and then sheared off a road sign in the area. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel confirmed that one individual died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down from Laurel to the Main Street exit for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Salinas crash is still under investigation.
