Pedestrian Killed in Salinas Crash on Highway 183 Near Cooper Road
SALINAS, CA (August 20, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a crash on Highway 183 near Cooper Road in Salinas.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about the tragic accident on Friday night. Officers reported the incident at around 9:51 p.m.
According to their dispatch, a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in Salinas. The driver hit the person on northbound Highway 183, just north of Cooper Road

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim lying on the ground as a result of the collision. They pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, officers did not mention if the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim.
Authorities forced the northbound side of Highway 183 near Cooper to shut down for a time following the collision. The cause of the fatal Salinas pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
