Salvador Cortez, 61, Fatal Victim in Traffic Collision at Higuera Street and Suburban Road Friday
San Luis Obispo, CA (June 25, 2021) – Salvador Cortez, a 61-year-old man, died following a bicycle accident in the area of Higuera Street and Suburban Road Friday morning.
According to KSBY News, Salvador Cortez was riding a bicycle traveling north on S. Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo. Preliminary investigation revealed the horrible crash when the man crossed the intersection at Suburban Road. For reasons still unclear, the bicyclist drove into the crossing at the same time as a semi truck.
Officials said the big rig turned east onto Suburban and hit Salvador Cortez. The force from the impact ejected the man from his bike.
Deadly Truck vs. Bicycle Accident in San Luis Obispo, June 25
Medical personnel arrived at the site shortly after 7:20 a.m. and found the bicyclist lying in front of the truck. Despite life-saving measures, Salvador Cortez sadly succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the truck operator.
Detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly bicycle accident in San Luis Obispo.
